Ashley K. Chason, Ph.D., ABPP is a board-certified forensic psychologist through the American Board of Professional Psychology. She specializes in forensic psychological evaluation, attorney consultation, and expert testimony for criminal cases.
Through Prime Forensic and Psychological Services PLLC, Dr. Chason conducts evaluations for courts, attorneys, and agencies across multiple jurisdictions. Her work focuses on providing objective, well-supported opinions that help answer psycho-legal questions clearly and directly.
Education and Training
Dr. Chason earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology and Human Systems from Florida State University. She completed her APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at Arkansas State Hospital, where her training included forensic evaluation and psychological testing with adults and juveniles.
Following internship, Dr. Chason completed specialized postdoctoral training in forensic psychology at West Central Georgia Regional Hospital. There, she conducted competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, and risk assessment evaluations; prepared comprehensive forensic reports; and provided expert witness testimony.
In addition to her forensic evaluation work, Dr. Chason served on an inpatient multidisciplinary treatment team addressing treatment, management, and civil commitment issues involving individuals with severe mental illness and legal involvement.

Experience in Complex Forensic Settings
Dr. Chason brings more than 15 years of forensic and clinical experience across state hospital, correctional, and outpatient forensic settings. Her work has included evaluations involving competency to proceed, criminal responsibility, mental state at the time of the offense, diminished capacity, mitigation, risk assessment, competency to waive Miranda rights, and mental health diversion.
For six years, Dr. Chason served as a licensed psychologist at Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center, where she was part of a multidisciplinary treatment team on a unit designated for individuals with the most acute psychiatric needs and significant histories of violence. This experience informs her work with complex presentations involving severe and persistent mental illness, neurodevelopmental conditions, intellectual disability, trauma-related disorders, substance use, and risk-related decision-making.
In addition, Dr. Chason has conducted forensic mental health evaluations and consultations for courts, attorneys, state agencies, and multiple jurisdictions. She remains actively engaged in continuing professional education and training to maintain current knowledge of forensic psychology research, standards, and best practices.
